Oddly, I don't really think of myself as a feminist. Of course I think women should have whatever freedoms they want to have, but feminism isn't something I've studied much or feel very well-versed in. I feel like if I am going to wear the title of "FEMINIST" I should at least know what I'm talking about, and I haven't done enough reading/study/thinking about it yet.
Yesterday, the church lesson was about keeping the Sabbath. I sat and listened to women agonize over whether or not to clean house, cook a nice Sunday dinner, take a nap, fold laundry, and the benefits of taking a break vs getting ready for the week. These matters weighed heavily on their hearts. It was intense.
I asked my husband what they discussed in priesthood regarding keeping the Sabbath. He replied with 1) TV watching, and 2) sports.
.....
This is really not a surprise, but it is something to think about. Does the patriarchy of the church perpetuate traditional gender-roles? absolutely.

I have similar questions about feminism, although I do identify with the third-wave. I watched this interesting Ted Talk the other day. I think it is really worth watching

I liked and didn't like her preceptive on feminism. I am really grateful to previous generations of feminist because I think my life is better because of them. Although, I really don't like man-hating, even in jest, and I find a lot of personal fufillment in my gender role. I'm not totally sure where that leaves me.
